In the first two months of the financial year – from April to May – the figure amounted to $1.1 billion.
According to the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, during the same period, shipments of goods to ASEAN and African countries also increased: by 66.9% (to $10.5 billion) and by 51.1% (to $9.6 billion), respectively. These countries accounted for more than $7.6 billion of the total growth in Indian exports of goods and services in April–May, which amounted to $162.6 billion in total – 14.6% more than in the same period last year.
The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry emphasized that Asian and African countries account for more than 50% of Indian goods supplies as a result of India diversifying its exports amid global uncertainty.
